Semmelweis University Professors

Habilitas

– My tasks were: WordPress site redesign in two languages, SEO & Accessibility, video editing

Through a close friend, I “inherited” the web and video projects of two distinguished professors from Semmelweis University. This assignment turned out to be more than just a technical job; it became a profound lesson in character and professional dynamics.

Professors on Unfamiliar Ground

With all due respect, the most entertaining aspect of the work was observing their “professorial style” in the realm of web design and video editing. This was clearly not their home turf. Their arena is nephrology (kidneys), saving lives, and high-level medical science. Watching them navigate this technical “foreign territory” created moments that were sometimes amusing, yet infinitely human.

Humility and Sharing the Podium

For me, this experience was deeply humbling and reinforced my philosophy on respect. I respect every individual, and I hold deep admiration for their human actions, experience, and achievements.

However, I also learned an important lesson: if someone is more knowledgeable in a specific subject—even if they are younger—one must be willing to “step down from the podium” and humbly acknowledge the other’s expertise. This applies even if one is a giant in their own field. It goes both ways: I respect their medical genius, and they learn to trust my digital expertise.

The Strength of Honesty

It is no shame to admit our weaknesses. When we step into an area where we lack expertise and need serious help, honesty is fundamental. Only by being honest about what we don’t know can we accept help—help that we can, in turn, pay forward in our own areas of expertise later.
